Copenhagen
The big city with lots of experiences
Den lille havfrue
Although it is lovely to be on the beach and in the countryside around Køge, sometimes you just need a day in the city. It’s easy to get to Copenhagen by car or with the S-train – it only takes 40 minutes, and the station is walking distance from the campsite.
At campsite reception you can buy the Copenhagen Card, which gives you free access to the S-train, buses and metro, as well as a multitude of experiences within Copenhagen.
So head off and see the big city for yourself. Tivoli is usually a popular destination for our guests but there are many other things to see and do in Copenhagen: get under water at Den Blå Planet aquarium; meet the animals at the ZOO; give the kids the time of their lives at the Experimentarium; catch a film under the big dome of the Planetarium; go for a cruise on the canal; see the Little Mermaid; have a wander down Strøget (the main shopping/walking street); see the changing of the guard at Amalienborg palace.
You can find free brochures at reception, as well as good advice and ideas.
Copenhagen has attractions and sights for every taste and interest – and most of them are within walking distance.
The three most famous attractions in the city is probably the over 100 year old amusement park Tivoli, the statue of the Little Mermaid and the Alternative Christiania.
But Copenhagen has much more to offer. With a history dating back to 1043, the city is full of historical landmarks, significant buildings and interesting sights and museums.
Do not forget to visit the Amalienborg Palace – the royal family’s home – and go down the Strøget for some shopping.
Here is a guide to the 30 most visited places in Copenhagen and the metropolitan area.
