The cycle route between Berlin and Copenhagen has become rather popular, and Køge & Vallø Camping is a natural stopping point for many along the way. You can bring your own tent, or save yourself the extra weight by sleeping in one of our cosy and inexpensive cabins. If your bike needs a little repair work or adjustment, we have a free bicycle workshop available, with all the tools you might need.
The route between Copenhagen and Berlin covers roughly 700 km. Depending on your level of fitness, the tour can take 1-2 weeks.
The route is exciting and varied, and offers many things to see. From Køge, it goes through Stevns and the UNESCO World Heritage site of Stevns Klint. You can pass by both Vallø Castle and the medieval fortress of Gjorslev. Take a trip through Gjorslev Beech Forest, which contains 55 passage graves.
Then the route continues to Faxe Ladeplads, Møn and Nykøbing Falster, where you can see Faxe Quarry and the spectacular Møns Cliffs.
In Nykøbing Falster, you can visit the Medieval Centre. Here there are fierce battles between riders on horseback, huge catapults shoot blocks of stone across the water, and you can have a sail on the Guldborgsund in a medieval ship.
Next, the route proceeds towards Gedser, following the charming twisted country roads to the southernmost tip of Denmark. From here, two pleasant hours of sailing brings you to the idyllic Hansa city of Rostock, on the Baltic Sea by the mouth of the river Warnow.
Onwards through Mecklenburg, Vorpommern and Brandenburg – through countryside, villages and towns to Nieder Neuendorf, home of the last remaining watchtower from the time of the Berlin wall.
From here, you can take the train with your bike and luggage for the last stretch to Berlin. Get out at Friedrichsstrasse station. It is right in the centre, only a few minutes from the Reichstag, the Brandenburg Gate and Potsdamer Platz.
The Copenhagen-Berlin cycling route is ideal for your cycling holiday. There are so many opportunities for adventure along the way, and you can adapt the tour to your own pace and preferred type of accommodation.
We hope to see you and your bike here at Køge & Vallø City Camping.
